Fighting mud fever in horses with Thermequin

Thermequin pour traiter la gale de boue
Mud Fever is a bacterial inflammation that manifests itself in the form of irritated or reddish skin, then in the form of scabs and cracks on the pasterns. "Mud Fever", also called dermatophilosis, is a crusted, slightly itchy (non-itchy) skin disease common in horses. The bacteria responsible is Dermatophilus congolensis, which develops in the epidermis and in hair follicles. Through the production of spores (a form of resistance), the bacteria has an infectious power that can persist for several years (up to two years in the external environment) and in particular in scabs. Humidity, mud and dirt are the main triggers of mud fever. This inflammation is not dangerous for the horse, but the scabs can bother it, even leading to lameness if it is not treated in time. Horses with sensitive and light skin are more prone to this pathology. To avoid mud fever problems, it is recommended to maintain environmental hygiene as best as possible, to dry the limbs after showering, especially in cold and humid weather and not to cut the fetlocks which serve as a natural gutter. Our THERMEQUIN Dead Sea product range offers a solution for the prevention and treatment of Mud Fever. First of all, the SENSITIVE shampoo or the TERRE & MINERAUX which also has an exfoliating action thanks to the Dead Sea mud it contains. These nourishing shampoos help to clean the limbs while soothing the feeling of tightness and discomfort.
